Purty Kitchen – Patio Bar & Members’ Room

Location:
Temple Bar, Dublin City Centre
Client:
Superbell Ltd.
Architect:
Damien Murtagh
Project Description:

Construct two new floors on top of original steel structure to include five rooms, two escape stairs, toilets, and two new bars. One bar has a large oval ope in the ceiling with a waterproof floor to accomodate smoking in the open air.

The particular difficulty in this development was the location of the work station on the fifth storey with no conventional way to execute the works.

Demolition of the roof of existing public bar and the fitting of a temporary roof structure on scaffolding hung from the sides of the building.

The challenge of this project was to ensure there was no obstruction to traffic at road level. This development is situated in a very busy city centre area, where safety to all including the public and minimal disturbance was the priority.

LINHAM achieved this while also keeping the existing business operating at full capacity. The project had to be completed on a specific date for pre-booked functions, a target which was achieved on time and within budget.
